Xeriscape Extreme

The Xeriscape Extreme flower mix is a collection of extremely adaptable, drought tolerant, hardy and beautiful varieties for the waterwise gardener. The twenty annuals and perennials have a range of bloom times from spring through fall. Their palette of colors range from soft white to bright yellows to cool blues. Xeriscape means water-efficient landscaping. Xeriscape promotes environmentally sound gardening techniques to conserve water and reduce maintenance while producing beautiful landscapes with year-round appeal. Some of the varieties included are Birds Eyes, Blanketflower, Blue Flax, California Poppy, Cosmos Sulphur, African Daisy, Gazania, Mexican Hat, and Phlox Mountain. In cool climates plant in the spring, 1 to 2 weeks before the last average frost date. In mild climates, sow seed during cooler months, generally October through March. Soil should be kept moist while the seeds are germinating and beginning to grow. Be sure to keep the weeds pulled so they do not compete with the flowers for water and sun. This mix covers approximately 65 square feet. ... get more information

Corn - Honey & Cream The Corn Honey & Cream, 'Zea mays var rugosa', is excellent for small gardens and short growing seasons. If we had to choose two vegetables that were much better home grown than bought from a store, corn and tomatoes would be our choice. Honey and Cream allows gardeners with small plots or gardeners in northern climates to enjoy this wonderful flavor. The plant has 6 to 7 inch ears with 10 to 12 rows of very tender kernels. It is great fresh and Honey and Cream can be canned or frozen. Plant in the spring, a week or two after the last spring frost or when the soil is warm. Corn prefers a deep, rich well drained soil. Harvest the ears when the husks are dark green and the silks are brown but not brittle. Corn is usually ready 3 weeks after silks appear.
