Sweet William - Double Mix
The Sweet William Double Blend, 'Dianthus barbatus', is prized as a long lasting cut flower and it fills the flower void between spring bulbs, but before summer annuals. The Double Blend is an attractive 18 inch dome of a myriad of beautiful flower colors. The 1/2 inch flowers occur in densely packed flattened heads, 3 to 5 inches in diameter. The flowers colors are white, pink, rose, red, purplish, and bicolored. Sweet Williams bloom in late spring for about 4 weeks. Sweet William prefers full sun and light sandy, well drained soil. Dianthus prefer a fairly a slightly alkaline and rich soil. Shear off faded blooms and the plant may come back and bloom the following year. Plant in the spring after the last average frost date. Salvia - Mixed Colors The Mixed Colors Salvia have 6 to 8 inch tall spikes of salmon, rose, scarlet, and violet flowers. Mixed Color Salvias will do well in in ordinary well-drained garden soil. They should be watered regularly but not to the point of soggy soil conditions. Plant in the spring after the last killing frost date. This Salvia is easy to grow and makes an excellent border plant and is great in containers or planters.
