Grape Swenson Red The Swenson Red Grape, 'Vitis 'Swenson Red', has large, round red fruit with a fine, sweet flavor and high sugar content. It ripens in early September. Grapes are primarily grown for fruit production in home fruit gardens where they provide good ornamental value: bold summer foliage, showy fruit, some fall color and shaggy, twisted trunking and branching often best seen in winter. Grapes need a good support system like fences, walls, trellises, arbors or other structures. The grape vines can be quite attractive year-round and can provide good cover, screening, or shade to areas around the home. Grapes need full sunlight and high temperatures to ripen, so plant on southern slopes, the south side of windbreaks, or the south sides of buildings. Considered to be a good grape for juices and jellies. Birds love grapes, so be sure to plant some to share.
Blackberry Chester Thornless It contains high quality and high yields, and they are excellent eaten fresh or made into preserves and blackberry wine. It is late in ripening, starting in July. Chester is the most hardy thornless blackberry. Training canes to grow on a trellis, they can grow to 10' long. Fruit is borne on previous years growth, so cut canes to the ground after they are done bearing. Blackberries are a delicious gourmet treat that may be eaten fresh or used in cobbler, cake, sauce, jam, jelly or syrup.
Blueberry Northblue The Northblue Blueberry, 'Vaccinium 'Northblue', has large fruit that is dark blue, with an excellent blueberry flavor and is great for fresh eating. A prolific bloomer, this blueberry produces huge midseason crop of blueberries starting in July. It offers striking multi-tone fall foliage colors - yellow through red. It doesn’t take up much space, so makes for a fine landscape plant for borders, as hedge or specimen. This blueberry prefers an acid soil for best plant health and fruit production. The shallow, fibrous roots need constant moisture and good drainage.
Blueberry Northcountry It has a sweet wild blueberry flavor, and this fruit is small to medium 1/4" in diameter. Its dwarf size would make it a nice ornamental plant. It likes an organically rich, medium to wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Prune early before spring growth. Raspberry Bristol Black Berries have excellent quality and good flavor and are good for canning and freezing as well as fresh eating. Bristol’s upright growth and cluster formation make its berries extremely easy to pick. Bristol shows tolerance to powdery mildew. However, they may be grown in partial shade or under other environmental constraints. Raspberries need a plentiful supply of moisture throughout the growing season. Raspberries take little space, live for years and produce crops the second season after planting.
