Salvia - Pink Friesland

The Salvia Pink Friesland, Salvia nemorosa ‘Pink Friesland’, may just challenge it's cousin, East Friesland, as one of the best perennials of all time. It has dark red stems loaded with pink flowers that bloom from June to September. After the flowers fade little seed pods appear making this a truly unique variety. It has a plant height of 18” and a spread of 12-15” and stays in excellent compact form. Pink Friesland should be planted in full sun in a moist well-drained area. To increase bloom time, it should be cut back after the first bloom. Pink Friesland is a magnet for butterflies, bees and hummingbirds and is deer-resistant. It is hardy for container gardening and provides excellent cut flowers. ... additional info

Hosta - Variegata The Hosta ‘Variegata’, Hosta undulata, has dramatic, narrow, lance-shaped wavy leaves with white centers edged in green, making it very striking. The Hosta flowers bloom from July to August, however, Hosta’s are not known only for their flowers. With a plant height of 18” and a spread of 24-36”, Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage. Hosta ‘Variegata’ needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained area. Hosta ‘Variegata’ was the 2000 American Hosta Growers Hosta of the Year, and one can see why. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and one of the most popular for landscape uses.
