Mountian Bluet - Gold Bullion
The Centaurea ‘Gold Bullion’, Centaurea montana, has small thistle-like single flowers at the end of a delicate stem, being bright blue and very showy. With a height of 18-24” and a plant width of 18-24”, it is an excellent late summer to early fall bloomer. The foliage color of ‘Gold Bullion’ is more unique than the rest. With bright chartreuse, almost golden foliage,(may fade in late summer), it is a definite contrast with the bright blue flowers. If cut back after blooming, it will continue to produce new blooms throughout the season. Centaurea ‘Gold Bullion’ is tolerant of cool winters. Place in poor, dry to moderately moist, well-drained soil in full sun will help it to bloom throughout early to mid-summer. (Full sun to part shade may give this plant better leaf color. ) The gray-green, lance-shaped foliage add contrast to this plant. This plant knows no serious insect or disease problems. Use Centaurea ‘Gold Bullion’ massed in border fronts, cottage gardens or naturalized areas. For planting with other perennials, try ‘Illumination’ Vinca, ‘Variegated’ Sedum or Echinacea ‘Purple Coneflower’. ... find out more
