Lily - Blackout (Asiatic Lily)
The Asiatic Lily Blackout, 'Lilum ‘Blackout’, has extremely dark red, almost black, flowers that produces 4-5 flowers per stem. The dark green foliage makes a great contrast with its flower color. ‘Blackout’ has a plant height of 36” and is one of the newest Lily’s on the market today. Cutting the pollen off the middle of the flower, not letting it touch the flower, will increase the bloom time on Lily’s. Blooming in mid to late June, ‘Blackout’ should be planted in full sun and in a well drained soil. Yarrow - Yellow The Yarrow Anthea, 'Achillea millefolium', a Blooms of Bressingham plant, is an upright yellow flowered Yarrow that blooms from June through September, providing excellent color throughout the summer months. With fern-like aromatic, silvery to gray-green foliage, it is considered to be one of the best yarrows in any landscape. The foliage has a somewhat strong, spicy aroma, which persists when used in dried arrangements. The flower heads are 3-4” wide, with a spread of 12-18” and a height of 2-3’. ‘Anthea’ has good texture and form and looks great in mass plantings and cottage gardens and is more vigorous and heat tolerant than Achillea ‘Moonshine’. This Yarrow does well in average garden soils, but prefers lean, dry to medium wet, well-drained soil. (Avoid heavy clays and moist, rich, fertile soils. ) Yarrow should be planted in full sun and is tolerant of hot humid summers. Remove faded flowers to encourage more growth and divide every 3-4 years. For an attraction to butterflies, deer and rabbit resistant, one can’t go wrong with this plant. PP8828.
