Hydrangea - Endless SummerŪ The Original
Endless SummerŪ The Original Bigleaf Hydrangea, Hydrangea macrophylla 'Bailmer' (PP15,298), has the unique ability to bloom on both old and new wood, ensuring consistent flowering year after year. The big mop-head type blooms, up to 8" in diameter, are pink or blue depending on soil pH. Use aluminum sulfate to change alkaline soil to acid and make blooms bluer, or add lime to the soil to make the flowers pinker (begin soil treatments well in advance of flowering, as in late autumn or early spring). Large, dark green foliage adds to this showy summer bloomer and blooms through the summer and fall every year. This one has the ability to bloom as far north as Minnesota (maybe much further). This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. It requires consistently moist soil; do not let dry out between waterings The flowers are good for cutting and drying. Endless Summer prefers full sun and grows 3 to 5 feet in height and width. ... more
