Hosta - Sun Power
The Hosta Sun Power, Hosta 'Sun Power', is one of the best gold hosta's there is. The large leaves are about 12 inches long by 7 inches wide and are vase shaped. Sun Power requires about 3/4 sun which causes the leaves to explode in true gold color. . . . hence the name Sun Power. The lavender flowers of this hosta appear in early summer on 3 foot stems, however hosta’s are not known for their flowers. Sun Power requires sun 3/4 of the day to bring out the best color and should be planted in any moist, well-drained spot. Ajuga - Mahogany Bungleweed The Ajuga , Mahagoney Bugleweed, Ajuga reptans Mahogany, is a robust Ajuga with a flat trailing habit and shiny, short-stemmed leaves. The lush, almost black-burgundy, glossy leafed foliage will turn to a deep rich Mahogany color and turns even darker and more lustrous during the winter months. Mahagany Bugleweeds display lovely bright blue flower panicles in the spring. This Ajuga does best in fertile, well-drained soil. A site in morning sun and afternoon shade, or in filtered light allows this ajuga to really look its best. It is excellent when used for borders and in mixed containers, as well as in areas where grass is shade-challenged. Fast grower. Space 6-12" apart when used as a groundcover.
