Fallgold Ash



The Fallgold Ash, Fraxinus nigra 'Fallgold', is a hardy, seedless Ash with deep green leaves that turn to a bright golden yellow in fall. It is upright in habit, and it is adaptable to a wide range of growing conditions including poorly drained sites. The Fallgold is a male tree so it is seedless, no messy seeds to pick up. Use this ash as residential street trees, along golf course fairways, or anywhere a strong vertical accent will compliment the landscape. It prefers ample soil moisture and will tolerate periodic flooding since it is usually found growing in standing water in its natural habitat. Serviceberry The Serviceberry tree, Amelanchier canadensis, may also be known as a Juneberry, Shadblow, or Shadbush. This large shrub has erect stems that form multi-stemmed clumps The serviceberries, genus Amelanchier, are deciduous shrubs or small trees that grow in the understory of temperate forests. This deciduous tree/shrub is multistemmed and gets up to 20 ft tall with a dense, bushy spread up to 10 ft across. The bush sends up numerous suckers and can become quite a thicket. Ths fall color is brilliant yellow, red or orange. The flowers are white and borne in erect clusters in early spring as the leaves are unfolding. The little serviceberry shrubs are useful in naturalized plantings, especially in open woodlands, under tall oaks or pines. It is an excellent small yard tree.
