Clematis - Carnaby
The Clematis 'Carnaby', Hybrid, has pink flowers with rich red bar down the middle of each petal. 'Carnaby' also has dark red anthers that make it very showy. It has a plant height of 10' with a spread of 3'. 'Carnaby' blooms from June and September with flowers that should not be missed. The dark green foliage makes a great contrast with the flower color. Clematis prefers full sun but will tolerate shade in the morning in a well-drained area. It is best to avoid heavy pruning on this perennial until it is fully established. Clematis ‘Carnaby’ needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs. The tops of Clematis prefer full sun while their roots prefer a cool, shady area. Bleeding Heart - Specatabilis Alba The Bleeding Heart Specatabilis ‘Alba’, 'Dicentra specatabilis ‘Alba’, is a fast-growing perennial with white, heart-shaped flowers. ‘Alba’ has two distinguishing features that make it a little different from the rest. One is the wonderful white flowers that it produces. Two, the foliage is lime-green rather then green. Dicentra ‘Alba’ has a plant height of 2-3’ and a width of 20”. Dicentra should be planted in full sun but will tolerate morning shade. It is heat tolerant and needs moist soil. Do not let it dry out. Dicentra will bloom from May to September and is a major attractor to butterflies. ‘Alba’ makes excellent cut flowers, in mass with groundcovers, or in potted containers. Being an old fashioned plant, it is a must in any landscape.
