Austrian Pine
The Austrian Pine, Pinus nigra, is a densely branched tree producing long dark needles. This evergreen conifer tree thrives in urban locations as well as in windbreaks in more rural settings. It does well in a variety of soils and is very hardy. The spreading branches of a young tree form a pyramidal outline, but at maturity, it sometimes achieves a picturesque flat topped head. This fast growing pine tree makes an attractive Christmas tree when sheared. It will tolerate both limestone or acidic soils, dry rocky locations and windy conditions. White Walnut This tree has a short trunk which is divided into a few ascending limbs with large spreading, sparsely forked branches. The smaller branches tend to bend downwards and then turn up at the ends. The root system is composed of a number of wide-spreading laterals that grow to a considerable depth. White Walnut trees grows fast, especially as a seedling, but usually does not live longer than 75 years. Tree is best known for the rich quality of its wood.
